2010 Volunteer Awards - Celebrating Long-Term Service to the Red Cross

Twenty year service awards were distributed to the following dedicated volunteers: Patricia Jackson, Jack Lynn, and John McKenzie.

Devora Sessler, Elinore McCaskill, and Jon Bachelder earned twenty five year honors.

Beverly Raffaele earned a thirty-five year service award. She first volunteered with the Red Cross in Germany when she and her husband were stationed there in the 1960s. She continued to work for the Red Cross throughout many moves in the US, finally joining the Moore County Chapter in 2007.

2010 Volunteer of the Year Awards

Support Service Volunteer for 2010 is Beverly Raffaele, who volunteers in the office every Monday. Her many years of experience as an administrative assistant have proved invaluable to the chapter.

Bee and Charley Holder shared the Blood Services Volunteer of the Year Award for their role in providing canteen for almost all the monthly blood drives. In addition, this husband and wife team, who recently celebrated their 50th anniversary, also assist the chapter as Service to the Armed Forces volunteers.

Jim Haggard received the Disaster Services Volunteer of the Year Award for 3 years of dedication to the Disaster Action Team in Moore and Richmond counties. He has responded to many fire scenes, often late at night or on weekends, providing victims with food, clothing, shoes and shelter.

 

 

What We Do

We respond to local emergencies (such as home fires) by providing shelter, food, and basic necessities.

We conduct blood drives.

We plan for local emergencies, to include emergency shelters, stored supplies, and more!

We teach babysitting, first aid, and CPR courses (and more!)

We provide official Red Cross communications to military families.

We send volunteers to respond to disasters on a regional and national scale.
