2011 Update from the Director

As we begin the second decade of the 21st century The American Red Cross stands ready to handle any disasters – large or small – that may confront us. It’s who we are and what we do to serve our communities, state, nation, and world. The first decade of this century was marked by major disasters, both natural and man-made. The Red Cross has been actively involved, offering tremendous support after 9/11, Katrina, and the Haiti earthquake, just to name a few. 2011 Spring floods and tornados really challenged us, as did Hurricane Irene. The unusual early snow storm in the northeast was a reminder that every season carries with it potential disasters.

We continue to have a serious blood shortage and need donors to step forward to insure a healthy and sufficient supply. Please consider a new year’s resolution to donate a pint of life-saving plasma.

And, as always, we are providing services to our armed services members and their families; and, we are offering life-saving classes in CPR and the use of AEDs to help protect our citizens.

We need your help to keep The American Red Cross – Moore County Chapter healthy and active in our region – ready to respond in a moment’s notice to emergencies of all types. Please consider a gift today.

Sincerely,

A.J. “Buddy” Spong

Executive Director
